Gentrification in Vancouver Downtown Eastside has impacted the low-income people the most and the rental rat-race has left many residents in this area homeless. It is therefore our collective responsibility to articulate and advocate for a vision of a just community in the DTES that accommodates everyone’s basic survival needs, inclusively. All levels of government are taking action to prevent homelessness from continuing to escalate in the DTES. It is every compassionate individual’s responsibility to take part in improving the living conditions of our fellow citizens in this area of town if we could.
